There’s No Such Thing as Bad Weather….
Essentials Field Notes: Week One
We had so much fun exploring in the rain and learning that there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing…Talk about a lesson in resilience! Building resilience readies them so that they can deal with difficulties that they may face in everyday life. It also helps develop skills and habits that will help them deal with challenges later in life.
We built a shelter together, learning how to protect ourselves, each other and Mama Earth. We also learned about our boundaries, internal and external and had some fun using our rubber mallet to hammer in shelter stakes. Teaching children to use tools helps develop eye-hand coordination, creative thinking & self esteem to name a few of the benefits.
This week, we’ll be working with a Master Composter to learn about composting, natural cycles of life, death, rebirth, and the recycling of nutrients in the ecosystem. We can work with Mama Earth’s tiniest minibeasts to make the world a better place for all.
